Ganguro

Ganguro is basically the Japanese version of blackface (google Ganguro you'll see what I mean). I have heard a rather appealing notion though that Ganguro is a look launched in rebellion against traditional ideals of Japanese beauty, i.e. pale, as white as possible etc etc. It was an up yours by the working class to the people at the top who institute what beauty is and it worked because the proletariat got to rule the fashion scene for a bit, from late 90s to early millennium. X

Personally, I'd like to see Ganguro on the Dior couture runway or better still in an Outkast video...X
